Capricorn, With Love

The Desert Muses is thrilled to announce our second July guest blogger. Please help me welcome paranormal romance author Pamela Moran.

The paranormal has always fascinated me. From ghosts to psychics my characters are confronted at every turn with the supernatural. Some handle the mystical stuff well, while others would rather handle anything but the bizarre and sometimes down and dirty weird stuff.

Having characters with psychic abilities is both fun and daunting. There’s acceptance of the paranormal world, there’s disbelief, and all the shades in between. Then there are all the different kinds of abilities, not to mention different levels of talent. But, first things first. Their name is my starting point because without a name, they’re not real.

Then comes the who, what, and why of the character.

Who are they? What do they do, and why do they do it?

As an astrologer, it’s natural for me to turn to astrology as a foundation for my characters’ personalities, their strengths, and especially their weaknesses. I have a soft spot for flawed characters, ones who have a hard time staying out of their own way.

Take Gavin Dunbar, for instance. The hero of Gavin’s Woman, Gavin is a Capricorn. He’s a natural leader. Practical and self-contained, he has an agenda and expects others to fall in line or get out of his way.

I invite you to visit my site and learn more about the Dreamwalkers series and the PS Sentinel world, these books are designed for quick reads.

Who’s your favorite hero? Astrologically, what do you think his/her astrological sign is? Is he/she earthy or more mentally orientated? Dark and brooding or fiery and passionate?

Protectors and hunters, PSI agents lay their abilities, sometimes their lives, on the line. They defend and shield unwary victims against the twisted underside of a psychic society bent on exploiting an unsuspecting, mundane world.
